Battle of the Latest Robot Vacuums: Roborock Q Revo vs Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
I've been using Roborock vacuums since the S5 Max and S6 MaxV. After purchasing them for my family, I didn't follow up on the latest release until recently and noticed that so many new features have been added in the latest Roborock Q Revo vs Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. For one, the mop is no longer just a stationary piece of cloth and actually spins.
What I disliked most about my S5 Max and S6 MaxV was the need to empty the dustbin, empty the water tank and wash the mop after the cleaning session. Guess what? Now all these are automated AND it can last for 7 weeks without human intervention! It's perfect for all you busy families out there who need a helping hand to lighten your workload.

Roborock Q Revo vs Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
Today, I'm excited to review their newest model, the Roborock Q Revo, and compare it to its more expensive flagship model, Roborock S8 Pro Ultra. Both models come with exciting features like auto mop cleaning and an auto bin emptying dock. Let's delve into the details and see how these two cutting-edge robot vacuums stack up against each other.
Design and Build Quality:
The Roborock Q Revo boasts a sleek and modern design, with a glossy finish and compact dimensions that allow it to navigate effortlessly under furniture and around obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra, on the other hand, shares a similar design language, but with a few subtle differences. The Q Revo's build quality feels robust and durable, ensuring long-lasting performance.
Navigation and Mapping:
Both the Q Revo and S8 Pro Ultra utilize advanced LIDAR and SLAM mapping technology to navigate and map your home accurately. However, the S8 Pro Ultra sensor is better since it has two lasers flanking it, while the Q Revo only has a large IR sensor in the middle. Both of these models have no video camera which is great if privacy is a concern.
In terms of mapping, both are the same and can save up to 4 maps.
Cleaning and Mopping Performance:
When it comes to cleaning performance, both models excel in picking up dirt, debris, and pet hair. The Q Revo features a strong extreme suction power of 5,500Pa, which provides a deep and thorough clean, especially on carpets and high-traffic areas while the S8 Pro Ultra is a small step ahead with its 6,000Pa suction. For normal home usage, 5,500Pa is actually sufficient.
S8 Pro Ultra's mop uses ultrasonic mopping technology while Q Revo is using a twin disc spinning mop technology. I would say it's like Philips electric toothbrush (ultrasonic vibrations) vs Oral-B's electric toothbrush (spinning). Based on test results, both yield the same results on stained floors.
Auto Mop Cleaning:
The auto mop cleaning feature is a game-changer as it scrubs the mopping pad for you after each use and then proceeds to dry them at 45 degrees celsius. Both the Q Revo and S8 Pro Ultra include this functionality, but the Q Revo's water tank is actually larger at 5L for the clean water tank and a 5L dirty water tank. This is double the S8's 3L clean water tank and 2.5L dirty water tank.
Auto Bin Emptying Dock:
Another one of the standout features of these robot vacuums is their auto bin emptying dock. The S8 Pro Ultra can store up to 2.5L of debris, while the Q Revo boasts an increased capacity of 2.7L. This means less frequent emptying and a more hands-off experience, especially in larger households or with shedding pets.
Auto Mop Lifting:
Both models support auto mop lifting which is essential if you have carpets at home and don't want to drag the wet mop all over the carpets.
Battery Life and Charging:
Both use Roborock’s high-capacity 5200 mAh lithium-ion battery and will run for up to 180 minutes (in the lowest setting).
Conclusion:
Based on the comparison, Q Revo's does seem to offer more value for money at around SGD900 as compared to S8 Pro Ultra at almost double the price (SGD1,600) as their features are so similar (or even better in the Q Revo), any other differences are negligible to a regular user like myself. Q Revo is also currently the cheapest Roborock model with premium mop pad-washing and self-emptying features.
